Zur Langen Nacht der Museen - anlässlich der transmediale lädt Sie das Künstlerkollektiv des Art & Media Lab, dem neuen Research Center des Freien Museum Berlin, am 28. Januar zu einer ersten Veranstaltung ein.
Das Art & Media Lab steht ab sofort Künstlern und Wissenschaftlern unterschiedlicher Medienbereiche zur gemeinsamen Arbeit zur Verfügung.
Seit einen Monat treffen sich Theoretiker und Praktiker zu gemeinsamen Gesprächen, Diskussionen und Experimenten.
Einen ersten Einblick über die bisherigen Akteure und deren Arbeiten kann man diesen Samstag in einer Ausstellung gewinnen. Erste gemeinsame Projekte werden dabei auch zu sehen sein.
Anlässlich Jackson Pollock's 100ten Geburtstag wurde von den in den Ateliers des Freien Museums arbeitenden Künstlern eine Malerei Ausstellung auf der ersten Etage installiert.

Ab Februar 2012 wird der finnische Performancekünstler Roi Vaara im Museum zu Gast sein! Man darf gespannt sein..

TS art projects präsentiert im Freien Museum Berlin die Aussstellung „Am I a thief ?“ der nigerianischen Künstlerin Temitayo Ogunbiyi in Zusammenarbeit mit der Kuratorin Anastasia Stein von Alice Arts Projects.
Die erste Ausstellung von Temitayo Ogunbiyi in Deutschland konzentriert sich auf ihre neuesten Arbeiten, die die Interaktion zwischen Menschen im virtuellem Raum untersuchen und zeitgenössische Kommunikationsmodelle illustrieren. Sie nutzt die digitalen Medien harmonisch und in einem konzertanten Zusammenspiel mit traditionellen Materialien und Formen wie Stoffen und Zeichnungen. Die so entste- henden 3D-Kollagen erzählen von der Evolution der Gegenwart und ermöglichen ein visuelles Verständnis unserer heutigen Kommunikationsstrukturen und wie diese den einzelnen Menschen, Gemeinschaften und deren Vorstellung von Gesellschaft beeinflussen.
Auf selbstverständlichste Art und Weise eignen wir uns heute Webinhalte an, reinter- pretieren vorgefundene Ideen und Bilder, verbreiten Gedanken und Erfahrungen in Foren und sozialen Netzwerken. Wir laden Musik, Filme und Software aus dem Netz herunter und lassen uns von Menschen aus aller Welt inspirieren. Stehlen wir oder kollaborieren wir? Wo sind die Grenzen zwischen privaten und öffentlichen Informa- tionen? Wie wird kultureller Austausch und künstlerische Entwicklungen duch die zeitgenössischen digitalen Medien vermittelt?
„Am I a thief ?“ ist eine Ausstellung und Rauminstallation, die von der Künstlerin täglich als Werkstatt genutzt wird, um vor Ort einen Teil der Arbeiten weiterzuentwi- ckeln. Der Prozess wird über den gesamten Zeitraum dokumentiert und im Internet für die virtuellen Besucher nach der Ausstellung zur Verfügung stehen.
Ogunbiyi konnte für diese Ausstellung zwei der bekanntesten nigerianischen Mo- dedesigner Kate Williams und Ugoma Adegoke (Zebra) für eine Zusammenarbeit gewinnen. Einige Arbeiten der Künstlerin werden von ihnen zu nichttragbaren Klei- dungsstücken verarbeitet und sind Teil der Installation im Ausstellungsraum.
Temitayo Ogunbiyi studierte in Princeton und an der Columbia University, lebt in New York und arbeitet momentan in Lagos in ihrem Heimatland Nigeria.
TS art projects wurde von Tore Süßbier gegründet. Mit „Am I a thief ?“ beginnt TS art projects eine internationale Ausstellungsreihe nach dem Prinzip der „Flying Gallery“ in Berlin, München und New York. Anstatt Künstler in einem festen Gale- rie- und Ausstellungsraum zu präsentieren, werden für jedes künstlerische Projekt geeignete Räume gesucht. Von TS art projects sind zukünftig nicht nur klassische Ausstellungsprojekte zu erwarten, sondern auch visuelle Experimente, die in enger Zusammenarbeiten von Künstlern mit Musikern und Orchestern entstehen. Jede Ausstellung wird begleitet von thematisch bezogenen Veranstaltungen wie „Artist Talks“ und „Dinner Partys“, Modenschauen und Konzerten, welche die Kunstszene der gastgebenden Stadt einbeziehen.

-------------------- TS art projects presents a solo exhibition by Nigerian artist Temitayo Ogunbiyi. The show „Am I a Thief ?“ curated by Anastasia Stein (Alice Art Projects) at Freies Museum Berlin.
For Temitayo Ogunbiyi’s first German solo exhibition, the focus is on her new work created between 2011 and 2012. The overwhelming focus of the artists research of recent years has been analysing and illustrating contemporary modes of communica- tion and how it affects individuals, communities and the wider scope of society.
She exploits digital media in a manner that is self aware whilst utilising these medi- ums harmoniously and in concert with more traditional methods and materials such as pencil drawing and textiles which will take the form of three dimensional collages.
When we browse the web daily, we borrow and reinterpret ideas and imagery, share our own thoughts and experiences in forums and on social networks, download music, films and software and get inspired by people from all over the world. Do we steal from each other or do we collaborate? Where are the borders between the priva- te and the public and is how cultural exchange and artistic development mediated by contemporary digital technologies of communication?
„Am I a Thief ?“ is an exhibition and site specific installation, which will become a temporary artists workshop in order to further develop the art works. The entire project will be digitally documented and released on the web in the form of a short film for virtual posterity.
Ogunbiyi could land a collaboration with Kate Williams and Ugoma Adegoke (Zebra) and herself. Williams and Adegoke are both famous Nigerian fashion designers, who would jointly create a peice of “haute couture” each, with the artist, for display in the exhibition.
Ogunbiyi studied at the prestigous universities of Princeton and Columbia in the U.S. Previously based in New York she is currently living and working in Lagos in her homeland, Nigeria.
TS art projects was founded by Tore Suessbier. Beginning with “Am I A Thief ?” TS art projects will start an international exhibition program applying the „Flying Gal- lery“ concept to cities so far including Berlin, Munich and New York. Rather than presenting artists in a fixed gallery space, a new location will be sought out for every exhibition. In the future one can expect, in addition to a classic exhibition format, visual and audio experiments that involve interdisciplianry collaborations, between musicians and artists.
Complimenting every exhibition there will be artist talks, dinner parties, concerts and fashionshows. This is a means to assimilate the show into the host cities art scene whilst simulatneously enhancing it.

For 25 days 25 artists will exhibit their work in a space that is a part of Freies Museum in Berlin.
Their work includes paintings, photography, drawings, prints, lithography, installations and videos.
It’s a spontaneous and independent project that was born and developed by joining energy of talented young people of Berlin who want to share their art and want to do things together.
During 25 days we want to make the space open to all sorts of creative initiatives - workshops, ongoing artists’ projects, dinners with gallerists, performances, music events & screenings. Some of it will be planned ahead, some will happen spopntanously.
Part of our residency in Freies museum will be composing a book in collaboration with Studio Beirut - a lebanese-dutch cultural initiative. The publication will be dealing with stories of international artists involved in Transient Museum and is meant to be a documentation of a social and artistic experiment that we engage with, a chapter of Berlin history happening here and now.
We’re very happy to collaborate with Agora collective, a great team of great people, who will bring their energy, ideas and experience on how to work & create together into the 25 days residency starting from the opening night.
